Accident – Death – Obituary News : On the third day of the trial for two men accused of the murder of Oakland County businessman Daniel Hutchinson on June 1, 2022, a key witness took the stand. Clarence Lewis, a customer at the Hutchinsons’ Pay Beny pawn shop, recounted his interactions with Daniel and Marisa Hutchinson moments before the fatal shooting outside their business on Greenfield Road in Oak Park.
Lewis described Marisa as friendly and warm, and Daniel as approachable. He mentioned that another vehicle pulled up as he was conversing with the Hutchinsons, and he heard multiple gunshots shortly after. Fearing for his life, Lewis dropped to the ground and crawled back to his car. He witnessed a man on a bike riding past and heard Marisa Hutchinson screaming loudly.
The prosecution alleges that the bicyclist, identified as Roy Larry, is the suspected shooter. Larry is charged with first-degree murder in Hutchinson’s death, assault with intent to murder Marisa Hutchinson, conspiracy to commit murder, and weapons crimes. Co-defendant Marco Bisbikis, the Hutchinsons’ former attorney, faces the same charges and is accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot after drafting the couple’s will.
Despite an extensive search, law enforcement never found the firearm used in Hutchinson’s killing. Testimony from firearms examiner Robert Charlton revealed that evidence testing confirmed only one gun was used in the crime. Hutchinson’s autopsy, conducted by Deputy Forensic Pathologist Bernardino Pacris, MD, showed that he sustained fatal injuries from seven bullets, which damaged his heart, lung, and liver.
In addition to owning the pawn shop, Hutchinson was a well-known figure in the community as the owner of Hutch’s Jewelry on Greenfield Road. His clientele included famous rap musicians and other affluent individuals. If Larry and Bisbikis are convicted of first-degree murder, they face life imprisonment.
