Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A former resident of Noel, Missouri, Mahamud Tooxoow Mahamed, 39, originally indicted in 2019 for the kidnapping of a 4-year-old girl whose mother was found murdered, now faces additional charges related to the murder case. Mahamed, a Somali national who was a permanent resident alien in the United States, was charged in a three-count superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Springfield. This new indictment replaces the original one from August 20, 2019, and includes additional charges.

The superseding indictment accuses Mahamed of kidnapping resulting in death, stalking resulting in death, and kidnapping a minor. It alleges that Mahamed kidnapped the victim, known as “J.M.,” leading to her death in July 2019. The victim, identified as Jessica McCormack from Noel, Missouri, was stalked by Mahamed from April 1 to July 17, 2019, resulting in her death.

The superseding indictment also includes the original charge of kidnapping a minor victim, known as Jane Doe 1, and transporting her from Missouri to Iowa. Following his indictment in 2019, Mahamed was a fugitive until his arrest in Guatemala on July 27, 2021. He has been in federal custody since then.

According to court documents, McCormack’s body was discovered near Missouri Highway 59 between Lanagan and Noel on July 29, 2019. The last time she was seen alive was on July 16, 2019, at her home, where Mahamed, identified as her paramour, was present along with her three daughters.

McCormack’s children were missing after her body was found, leading to an Amber Alert for them. They were located in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 8, 2019, at a residence where Mahamed had left them. The children were taken into state custody, as Mahamed did not have permission from the father of McCormack’s oldest child to take her out of Missouri.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller and investigated by the FBI, the McDonald County Sheriff’s Department, the Noel Marshal’s Office, the Rochester Police Department in Minnesota, and the Des Moines Police Department in Iowa.
