Karla Bellett, the mother of Corey Bellett, a local chef who was tragically murdered inside the Capitol Hill Link Light Rail Station, is preparing to bid farewell to her youngest son. This somber moment comes just a day before the King County Prosecutor is expected to press charges against the suspect responsible for Corey’s untimely death.

Karla Bellett expressed her deep concern for Corey, stating that she never anticipated him becoming a victim of a brutal stabbing in a public transportation station. She now seeks justice for her son and wishes for the alleged perpetrator to remain in custody.

A memorial service to celebrate Corey’s life will be held at Lake Sammamish, providing an opportunity for his colleagues at Harry’s Fine Foods and all those who cherished him to reminisce about the vibrant life he led for 37 years.

Karla recounted the heart-wrenching phone call she received from a social worker at Harborview Medical Center on the night of the incident, informing her that Corey had been stabbed. Despite her worst fears, she rushed to the hospital only to discover that her beloved son had succumbed to his injuries.

Corey Bellett’s passion for fine dining blossomed while working in the kitchen of renowned local chef Jerry Traunfeld, where he also met his wife, Bridgett, whom he married just four months ago. Karla emphasised the importance of keeping the alleged assailant in custody to prevent further harm to others.

The suspect remains incarcerated at the King County jail, with bail set at $3 million. Karla expressed particular concern for Corey’s widow, who had plans to open a restaurant together with him. To support her during this difficult time, a GoFundMe account has been set up.
