ST. ALBANS — Vermont State Police successfully intercepted a wrong-way driver on Interstate 89 northbound between Exit 21 and Exit 20 on May 15, preventing a potential traffic mishap.

Reports came in around 11:18 a.m. alerting authorities to a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on the northbound lanes of the interstate.

Quick response from troopers on the scene ensured that the car was stopped without any accidents or injuries occurring.

The driver, identified as 79-year-old Daniel Bartlett from Swanton, was determined not to be impaired during the investigation.

Nevertheless, Bartlett is facing charges for his dangerous actions on the roadway.

He has been cited for Careless and Negligent Operation and is set to appear in the Franklin County Superior Court on July 15 at 8:30 a.m. to address the charge.
