In a disturbing incident in Firozabad district, a 25-year-old man was subjected to public humiliation and physical assault by villagers. The man was accused of having an illicit relationship with a woman from the same village.

The incident occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of the Pachokara police station on May 12. The woman’s husband, upon hearing rumors about his wife’s alleged affair, called the victim, Jitendra, to his home to investigate the matter.

However, instead of a fair inquiry, Jitendra was confronted by a group of seven men from the village, identified as Ajay, Aasif, Naresh, Bhuri Singh, Kuldeep, Sanju, and Chhote. They proceeded to physically assault him, forcing him to wear a garland of shoes and parading him around the village. In a degrading act, they also shaved his head.

A video capturing this horrific act surfaced on social media, leading to widespread condemnation and outrage. DSP Anivesh Kumar confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation into the assault and mistreatment of the man is underway.

Following a complaint from the woman, an FIR has been registered against the seven men under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

According to the victim, the accused men targeted him because they had a personal grudge against the woman’s husband, who operated a vegetable cart in the village. They spread false rumors about Jitendra’s alleged relationship with a local resident as a means of retaliation.
