A collision in Rancho Cucamonga on May 12 left a 54-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman with serious injuries, as a hit-and-run suspect was apprehended by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to the scene on Etiwanda Avenue at around 8:21 p.m. to find a motorcycle overturned, with both the driver and passenger in need of immediate medical attention for their injuries.

Despite the suspect fleeing the scene, witnesses were able to provide crucial information to law enforcement regarding the suspect’s appearance and vehicle description. Thanks to this information, deputies and K-9 Keva were able to track down the suspect’s vehicle at an apartment complex, showing clear signs of front-end damage consistent with the collision.

The suspect was identified as Guillermo Carrillo Velazquez, a 45-year-old resident of Rancho Cucamonga. Although initial attempts to locate him at his residence were unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The following day, Carrillo Velazquez surrendered himself to authorities at the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department and was subsequently booked into the West Valley Detention Center. He faces charges of felony hit-and-run, with bail set at £150,000.
