Authorities reported a tragic incident in Moss Landing on Wednesday morning, resulting in the loss of life. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that one person was killed in a collision that occurred at approximately 5:48 a.m.
Details of the Accident
The crash involved a red Honda Civic driven by a 27-year-old man from Watsonville. The Civic was travelling east on Castroville Boulevard and was in the process of turning left onto northbound Elkhorn Road. Concurrently, a red Honda Forza Moped, operated by a 52-year-old male, was travelling west on Castroville Boulevard towards Elkhorn Road.
Tragically, the driver of the Honda Civic initiated a left turn directly into the path of the oncoming Moped, resulting in a devastating collision. The impact caused the Moped driver to be ejected from the vehicle. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the Moped driver, identified as Michael Pacifico Carrillo from Prunedale, was pronounced dead at the scene by the CHP.
