Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man has been apprehended following an incident of road rage where he allegedly struck another vehicle multiple times before fleeing the scene. Collier County deputies successfully located and arrested Jayson Smith, 23, on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and reckless driving. Fortunately, the driver of the other vehicle escaped unharmed.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk commended the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for their swift and effective response in handling the situation. He emphasized that acts of road rage will not be tolerated in Collier County. Detectives revealed that Smith deliberately collided with the victim’s vehicle at least three times while both vehicles were stationary at a red light intersection between Oil Well Road and Everglades Boulevard North around 2 p.m. Smith then quickly fled the scene.

Following the incident, the victim’s mother promptly contacted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Smith. It was discovered that Smith has a history of traffic violations, including four speeding citations, three traffic warnings, and involvement in three traffic collisions in Collier County since 2021, as outlined in his arrest report.

This arrest serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving behaviour.
