The tragic incident that occurred late Friday in Kansas City, Kansas, has left the community in shock. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Jordan Cole, was fatally shot by a police officer, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

According to reports from the state agency, the officer was investigating a stolen vehicle in the area of South 7th Street Trafficway and Interstate 35 when three individuals fled from the scene. The officer pursued the suspects, and during the chase, one of them allegedly took cover in thick brush and fired at the officer from behind.

Thankfully, the officer was not hit by the gunfire and managed to return fire, striking Cole multiple times. Tragically, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the shooting, a 16-year-old boy who had also fled from the vehicle was apprehended by authorities on Friday. However, the third individual involved in the incident remains at large and has yet to be identified or taken into custody.
