WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Two individuals from Okaloosa County found themselves in trouble with the law after a late-night traffic stop in Walton County led to their arrest on drug and weapon charges, as reported by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
According to officials, both men have a history of felony convictions.
Identification of the Suspects
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Kevon Anthony Morris with a Fort Walton Beach address, and the passenger, identified as 36-year-old Arsenio Lovelace with a Destin address, were taken into custody following the incident.
Details of the Traffic Stop
On May 12, around midnight, a WCSO deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle the suspects were travelling in on Highway 98. The driver eventually pulled over on Beach Drive North in Miramar Beach.
During the stop, the deputy noticed an open bottle of Michelob Ultra in the possession of the passenger and discovered pressed pills in the driver’s seat.
Further search efforts led to the discovery of “160 multicolored tablets with different imprints weighing 47.5 grams, testing positive for methamphetamine and cocaine,” along with “a baggie of cocaine and a fully loaded Glock 22.”
Arrest and Charges
Both Morris and Lovelace were promptly arrested and booked into the Walton County Jail, each on a $50,000 bond.
Morris faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a weapon as a convicted felon, while Lovelace faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
