Julian Salvador Martinez : San Jose Police Hunt for I-280 Freeway Assault Suspect

Police in San Jose are on the hunt for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a young girl underneath a freeway as she made her way home from school last month.

The incident occurred at around 5:25 p.m. on April 9, beneath Interstate 280 on South 11th Street, according to investigators.

Details from the investigation revealed that the victim, a minor female, was walking northbound on South 11th Street when an individual on a dark-colored bicycle approached her and dragged her under the overpass.

The suspect proceeded to sexually assault the victim and prevented her from leaving. However, the victim managed to fight off the suspect, who fled the scene on his bicycle.

The suspect has been identified as 50-year-old Julian Salvador Martinez, with detectives from the Sexual Assault Investigations Unit releasing images of him. Martinez is described as approximately 5’11” in height, with dark hair and a thin mustache.

At the time of the incident, Martinez was wearing a black baseball cap with yellow lettering, a black sweatshirt with light lettering, light-colored pants, and black sneakers.

Authorities stated that Martinez frequents the area of Coyote Creek near Keyes Street and Senter Road, known as “The Jungle,” as well as the area of East Williams Street and South 10th Street. Martinez is believed to be aware of the warrant for his arrest and that he was removed from his encampment.
