Maryland State Police are currently investigating a tragic crash that resulted in the loss of a young man’s life in Somerset County. The deceased has been identified as Alexander Steve Dize, a 20-year-old resident of Princess Anne. Dize was a passenger in a 2013 Dodge Challenger driven by Braeden Lane Bloodsworth, 19, of Deal Island.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Monday when troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack responded to a single vehicle crash in the 27000 block of Crisfield-Marion Road in Marion. The vehicle had veered off the road and collided with a stand of trees, ultimately flipping onto its side. Speed is believed to have played a role in the accident.

Dize was airlifted by Maryland State Police medevac to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, where he was tragically pronounced dead by hospital staff. Bloodsworth, the driver, was also flown by medevac to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.

Assisting at the scene were the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration. The Maryland State Police CRASH team is currently leading the investigation into the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge as authorities continue their work.
