MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) – A tragic incident unfolded in Middletown on Sunday morning, resulting in the loss of a young life. The Butler County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 19-year-old Devonte Malachi Beverly.
The shooting took place in the early hours of Sunday in the 1700 block of Sheffield Street. Beverly was one of three individuals who were shot while sitting in a car at around 3:25 a.m.
Upon receiving a distress call, the police rushed to the scene and found Beverly deceased. The other two victims were immediately taken to Atrium Medical Center for medical attention. The severity of their injuries remains unknown at this time.
Eyewitnesses in the neighborhood reported hearing loud noises and commotion. Some heard cries for help, with one person recalling someone shouting, “I’m shot! I’m shot!”
