Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded in Assam’s Nagaon district, as a 60-year-old tea garden worker, Lucia Ekka, met a fatal end at the hands of a herd of wild elephants. The unfortunate encounter took place near Kaliden tea estate during the early hours of Tuesday.
According to reports from forest officials, Ekka was working near her residence when she unknowingly came face to face with the wild elephants who had ventured into the area in search of sustenance. The locals recounted how she was suddenly confronted by the elephants and was trampled by the massive creatures. Prompt action was taken, with the forest officials being notified immediately. They managed to retrieve Ekka in a critical condition.
Despite efforts to save her, Ekka succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to Tezpur Civil Hospital by her family members and the forest officials. Her body has since been sent for postmortem examination and will be handed over to her grieving family for final rites.
