Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A teenage boy from Daytona Beach, who allegedly fired gunshots into a crowd during a chaotic brawl at a late-night party held at Cabana Live in Sanford last month, is now set to be tried as an adult and could potentially face a life sentence in prison.

The incident, which occurred on April 28, left ten individuals injured, including Tank Dell, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, thanks to the swift actions of a security guard who managed to apprehend and disarm the suspected shooter, identified as 16-year-old Christopher Bouie.

Bouie, who is now being named publicly as he confronts adult charges, is facing five counts of attempted murder. The decision to prosecute him as an adult was finalised on Monday, as indicated by court documents. Bouie is scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Surveillance footage from the club captured the chaotic scene as the crowd dispersed in panic when the shooter, later identified as Bouie, opened fire moments after a scuffle erupted. The exact cause of the altercation leading up to the shooting remains unclear.

Authorities confirmed that the shooting took place during an event known as the “Nobody Leaves Sober Pool Party,” an occasion that was previously suspected to have been arranged without the necessary permits.

Increased Police Presence at Cabana Live

According to records from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers were called to Cabana Live a total of 85 times over the past year due to various disturbances, including fights and crowd control issues spilling into the parking lot.

Following the recent shooting incident, county officials, who had neglected to issue warnings to Cabana Live despite previous instances of unauthorised events being promoted, issued a stern ultimatum to the Orlando-based company subleasing the venue to the club. The company was given 45 days to rectify violations and cease hosting future events, under threat of eviction.

Sheriff Dennis Lemma emphasised the importance of adhering to permitting regulations, stating, “I think that having a permitting process is there for a reason. It gives an independent eye … I know that there are rules established for a reason. And I think that rules need to be followed.”

In response to the incident, the Seminole County Port Authority assured the public that late-night events would no longer be permitted at the venue situated at Boat Tree Marina along the St. Johns River.

Lawsuit Filed Against Cabana Live and Related Parties

Despite the reassurances from authorities, one of the victims of the shooting, Rikita Davis, has taken legal action by filing a lawsuit in Seminole County court. The complaint, lodged just five days after the incident, accuses Cabana Live, its landlord Marinas LLC, the event organiser Off The Muscle Entertainment, and two unidentified individuals referred to as “John Doe 1” and “John Doe 2” of failing to provide adequate security during the event.

As of now, legal representatives for the implicated entities and individuals have yet to formally respond to the lawsuit, as per court records.
