Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man has been accused of swindling more than £20,000 from a victim by posing as a fraud investigator for Wells Fargo Bank, as per the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. In December 2023, the victim received a text message asking to confirm the legitimacy of a charge on their debit card. Upon responding negatively, the victim was informed that a fraud investigator would reach out for further details. Subsequently, a suspect, identified as 44-year-old Logan Edward Shanahan from Tucker, Georgia, contacted the victim and extracted their banking details during the conversation.

Shanahan allegedly stored the victim’s debit card information on his mobile phone and visited various Wells Fargo branches in Charlotte, Lexington, Archdale, High Point, and Greensboro. There, he purportedly obtained cashier’s checks exceeding £20,000 in total. Following these incidents, Rowan County investigators procured 13 felony warrants against Shanahan for crimes including identity theft, financial card theft, forgery, financial card fraud, and obtaining property through deceitful means.

The accused was apprehended on Friday by officers from the Gwinnett County Police Department in Georgia, where he was placed under arrest. Plans are currently underway to extradite Shanahan back to North Carolina to face the charges brought against him..
