Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A heartbroken father, identified as Ikb Igboanugo, took to Facebook on Monday to share the devastating news of the passing of his son, Uzochukwu Igboanugo, a talented 32-year-old ophthalmologist based in America.

The grieving father revealed that Uzochukwu tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident allegedly caused by a drunk driver.

Expressing his deep sorrow, Igboanugo wrote, “I lost my son three weeks ago, and I have been in tears like a baby ever since. He was a dedicated medical doctor, specializing in ophthalmology, in America.”

Describing the circumstances of the accident, he added, “The accident was caused by a drunk driver who fell asleep while speeding on the highway. He veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with my son’s car on the driver’s side as he was returning home from work.”

Despite the immense pain of losing his son, Igboanugo acknowledged that God’s will is final. He described Uzochukwu as a kind-hearted, intelligent, and sociable individual who always brought happiness to those around him.

Reflecting on his son’s dedication to his career, Igboanugo shared, “At 32 years old, my son had not yet married, as he devoted all his time and energy to achieving his dream of becoming an ophthalmologist. This is a remarkable feat in the medical field.”

He went on to express the profound impact of the loss on himself and his wife, stating, “The mental and psychological trauma we are experiencing since his passing is indescribable. It has been a challenging time for us both.”

Highlighting the devastating nature of losing a child, Igboanugo emphasized, “No one deserves to go through this kind of tragedy, not even our worst enemies. I pray that no parent ever has to endure the pain of losing a child.”

In his final words, he bid farewell to his beloved son, saying, “Uzochukwu, you are now in God’s embrace, serving Him in heaven. Your soul shall rest peacefully in His care.”

In a similar tragic incident reported by The PUNCH earlier this year, a 19-year-old Nigerian student, Afolabi Stephen, lost his life in Canada due to police action on December 31, 2023.
