On the evening of Sunday, May 12th, Marshall County Deputies responded to a distressing scene on the 3000 block of Michigan Road in LaPaz. A motorcycle had collided with a deer, resulting in injuries to the driver.

The motorcyclist involved in the accident was identified as 47-year-old William R. Neiswender from Plymouth. The impact with the deer caused Neiswender to lose control and crash.

According to the county police report, Neiswender sustained multiple injuries including a potentially broken leg, shoulder pain, cuts, bruises, and road rash. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted from the crash site to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for further medical treatment.

Assisting the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at the scene were emergency response teams from LaPaz Fire and EMS, as well as Tri-County Medics.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of staying vigilant on the roads, especially in areas where wildlife may pose a risk to motorists. It also highlights the crucial role that emergency services play in responding to accidents and providing necessary medical care to those injured.
