A sheriff’s office in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, has confirmed the identity of a missing kayaker as Shane White, a 39-year-old man from Overland Park, Kansas.
White was reported missing after failing to return from a kayaking trip on Nest Lake in the northern part of Kandiyohi County. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office has launched an open water and land search to locate him.
Authorities have urged property owners in the area to thoroughly check their shorelines and outbuildings for any signs of White. He is described as a 6-foot-2, 230-pound man who was last seen wearing black shorts and a black t-shirt.
The Sheriff’s Office was alerted to White’s disappearance when he was reported overdue on Nest Lake at 10:37 a.m. on Sunday. White had set out alone in a kayak from his vacation rental on the south side of the lake.
