Authorities in Sumter County, South Carolina, are currently conducting an investigation after a pregnant woman was discovered shot and killed inside a residence on Monday morning.
The Sumter Police Department (SPD) received a distress call from the woman’s family members at approximately 7:45 a.m. reporting that she was found unresponsive at a property on Carrol Drive.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Keyirra Tatyana Walker, a mother of two young children, according to police sources.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled to take place later this week to determine the exact cause of death.
Law enforcement officials have stated that they believe the incident to be isolated and likely perpetrated by an individual known to Walker during the early hours of the morning.
Authorities are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed any suspicious activity or heard unusual noises in the vicinity of the incident overnight to come forward and assist with the investigation.
