TROY (WWJ) – Troy police have disclosed information regarding a DUI arrest that took place earlier this month following a report of a suspicious vehicle.
Shortly before 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Coolidge Highway and Golfview Dr. in response to a call about a driver parked in the left northbound lane of Coolidge Highway.
According to the individual who made the call, the vehicle in question was positioned southbound on the north side of the road, with its lights turned off and showing no signs of movement.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers identified a car that matched the description provided by the caller. The driver, later identified as a 38-year-old from Troy, was found slumped over the steering wheel.
After managing to rouse the man by tapping on the window, the police officers observed that he was speaking incoherently and emanating a potent smell of alcohol.
Following a series of sobriety tests, the man registered a blood alcohol level of 0.148% on a breathalyzer, surpassing Michigan’s legal driving limit of 0.08%.
Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to Troy Police custody, where a chemical breath test returned results of 0.159% and 0.153% BAC, as per the police department.
The individual was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), with his identity being withheld from the public.
