Accident – Death – Obituary News : More than ten years after the discovery of three individuals found deceased inside a vehicle abandoned on the side of a Georgia highway, law enforcement officials have apprehended four suspects in connection with the case. One of the individuals in custody is an assistant principal at a middle school located outside of Birmingham, Alabama, as reported by CBS affiliate WAKA-TV.
Earlier this month, a grand jury indicted 45-year-old Keante Harris, along with three other suspects – Kenneth Thompson, Kevin Harris, and Darrell Harris – on three counts of malice murder each for their alleged roles in the killings that occurred over a decade ago. Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen issued a statement confirming the charges against the suspects.
The murders occurred in Clayton County, just south of Atlanta. Authorities determined that the victims were subjected to torture before their deaths and were then placed inside a 2010 Dodge Charger, which was later discovered along Interstate 85 near Union City. The bodies of the victims were found inside the vehicle on January 13, 2013, by Union City police.
According to Sheriff Allen, the victims were coerced to a residence on Magnolia Drive in Jonesboro at gunpoint, where they were later transported to Fulton County and ultimately met their tragic fate. The victims, identified as Cheryl Colquitt-Thompson, Quinones King, and Rodney Cottrell, were residents of Montgomery, Alabama, as per WAKA-TV.
Following an extensive investigation by the Clayton County Police Department and the district attorney’s office, indictments were secured, leading to the recent arrests of the four suspects across different states. Keante Harris is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham.
Walter Gonsoulin, superintendent of Jefferson County Schools where Harris is employed as an assistant principal at McAdory Middle School, confirmed the arrest in a statement to WAKA-TV. Gonsoulin mentioned that Harris has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further information about the situation.
