Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The peaceful town of Rocky Ford, Colorado, was thrown into chaos as a high-speed chase unfolded across multiple counties, ultimately culminating in a dramatic crash. The Rocky Ford Police Department was thrust into action as they attempted to bring the dangerous pursuit to a safe conclusion.

The Start of the Chase

The incident began when an Otero County deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle in Rocky Ford. The vehicle had been reported in a driving complaint in Fowler just 20 minutes earlier, setting off a chain of events that would lead to a high-speed chase spanning several counties.

The driver of the vehicle, refusing to comply with the deputy’s orders, accelerated away, initiating a pursuit that would eventually reach Pueblo. The suspect vehicle navigated through the streets of Rocky Ford at high speeds, with law enforcement officers in hot pursuit.

The Intense Pursuit

As the chase continued, the suspect vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 mph, weaving in and out of lanes on Highway 50. The driver displayed reckless and dangerous behaviour, at one point even driving against oncoming traffic.

State Patrol implemented stop sticks near Fowler in an attempt to halt the vehicle, successfully deflating one of its tires. Despite this setback, the driver persisted, continuing on the deflated tire until it shredded, leaving only the wheel behind.

The Dramatic Conclusion

After more than 50 miles of pursuit, the chase came to a dramatic end in Pueblo. The driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a crash. Both the driver and a passenger fled the scene, with the driver managing to escape by jumping over a fence and disappearing into a nearby neighbourhood.

The passenger, identified as 29-year-old Pete Montoya of Pueblo, was apprehended at the crash site. Montoya is now facing a range of charges, including felony motor vehicle theft, accessory to crime, and obstructing government operations.

Continued Investigation

Despite the arrest of the passenger, the driver remains at large. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their efforts to locate and apprehend the individual responsible for the chaotic chase.

The involved vehicle has been impounded and towed, with authorities requesting assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to gather forensic evidence from the vehicle and its contents. This collaborative effort highlights the dedication of all agencies involved in bringing criminals to justice in the community.

The Otero County Sheriff’s Office and the Rocky Ford Police Department are committed to taking a strong stance against criminal activity in the area, ensuring that those who choose to break the law are held accountable.
