Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Trombay police have taken legal action against a man in Mumbai following the tragic death of his 24-year-old wife, as reported by the Hindustan Times. The woman was found dead at their residence in Mankhurd, leading to an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing. The husband, who works as an engineer, is now facing charges under section 304 B (Dowry death) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to police officials cited in the report, the husband returned home on the night of May 10 to find the house locked from inside. Despite his repeated efforts to enter, his wife did not respond. Upon breaking down the door, he discovered her lifeless body hanging inside.

Allegations of Mental and Physical Harassment

The couple got married on May 21 the previous year. The deceased woman’s parents, who reside in Nashik, have alleged that their daughter was subjected to relentless mental and physical harassment by her husband due to his dowry expectations.

During the wedding celebrations, the husband had reportedly demanded a gold chain. However, due to financial constraints, the parents could only provide ₹50,000 in cash and other items. The woman, who had completed her education in D Pharma, landed a job at a medical store in Pune, where the couple initially lived.

Financial Exploitation and Mental Abuse

Throughout their time together, the wife allegedly shared with her parents the husband’s constant demands for money and gold chains, revealing that he would take all of her salary. About two to three months before the tragic incident, the woman’s job relocation to Mumbai led to the couple moving to Maharashtra Nagar in Mankhurd.

A week before the incident, the wife’s declining health prompted her parents to visit the city, where they discovered the alleged mental harassment she was facing from her husband. The woman’s family claims that her repeated complaints about her husband’s behaviour, combined with the stress of the situation, ultimately drove her to take her own life.

Legal Action Taken

Upon arriving in Mumbai, the family lodged a formal complaint with the Trombay police station, resulting in legal action being taken against the husband.
