During the undergraduate entrance test conducted by COMED-K, two candidates were apprehended for using mobile phones for malpractice. Gururaj R Bhat, Assistant Secretary of COMEDK, reported that the candidates’ mobile devices were confiscated, and they were barred from continuing with the exam. Two exam centres experienced power outages, leading COMEDK authorities to compensate students by granting them extra time to complete the exam.

The COMEDK exam, aimed at filling 20,000 seats in approximately 150 engineering colleges across Karnataka, was conducted in three sessions. The test took place in 191 cities across India, including 24 cities in Karnataka. Overall, 264 centres were used for the exam, including 72 centres in Karnataka and 33 in Bengaluru.

Tragic Accident in Murugesh Palya

A five-year-old boy died after a 15-year-old accidentally rammed a car that first collided with bikes and then careened into the boy playing nearby, in Murugesh Palya on the Old Airport Road, on Sunday. Another child was also injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. The teenager, seated in the driver’s seat, was assisting his father in washing the car, around 11 am, when he accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to lurch and strike the child. The victim, identified as Aarav, a UKG student, lost his life instantly.

CCTV footage captured the event. The car involved bore a police sticker. The teen is the younger son of head constable Tamarai Kannan. The injured child, Dhanraj (5), is the son of Lokesh, a bank security guard based in Raichur. Authorities have initiated an investigation.
