Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 57-year-old man was apprehended in Tripura’s Gomati district on Saturday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl as she was returning home from school. The accused, identified as Safik Miah, reportedly stopped the minor girl, a Class III student, on a desolate road and proceeded to assault her. Fortunately, the brave girl managed to escape and confided in her parents about the horrifying incident upon reaching home.
In response to the distressing incident, enraged locals swarmed the police station at night, demanding justice and a severe penalty for the perpetrator. The officer-in-charge of the station, Rajib Bhowmik, disclosed, “The interrogation of the accused is ongoing, and he has been charged under sections 341 and 354 of the IPC, as well as Section 8 of the Pocso Act.”
Subsequently, the girl’s father lodged a complaint, leading to the swift arrest of Safik Miah later that evening. The authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that justice is served.
This appalling incident adds to a string of similar cases that have recently come to light. In a separate incident, a 46-year-old visually impaired man was apprehended in Sankarapuram for kidnapping, marrying, and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. The perpetrator, S Velmurugan, who operates a phone recharge shop and is a father of three, now faces legal repercussions for his heinous actions.
Moreover, in Tamil Nadu, a pastor named M Ragu Rajkumar was arrested in Ranipet for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in his church. The victim’s mother reported the crime, leading to the pastor’s arrest and subsequent judicial custody.
Similarly, a retired police head constable, T Krishnamoorthy, was taken into custody in Neyveli for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl. The brave young girl managed to escape from the perpetrator’s clutches and promptly informed her mother, resulting in Krishnamoorthy’s arrest.
These distressing incidents underscore the pressing need for stringent measures to safeguard the vulnerable members of our society, particularly children. Authorities must remain vigilant and proactive in preventing such heinous crimes and ensuring that perpetrators face the full force of the law..
