Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash on the Orange (57) Freeway in San Dimas, where alcohol is believed to have played a role. The incident, which occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, involved a 66-year-old motorist from Woodland Hills who was the sole occupant of a 2015 Toyota Highlander.

The driver, identified as Richard Priem by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner, lost control of the northbound Toyota for unknown reasons. The vehicle veered off the road and overturned onto its roof after driving uphill on an embankment. The SUV ultimately came to a stop within the roadway, blocking the right lanes.

Tragically, Priem was pronounced dead at the scene by California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who responded to the crash. The CHP is now appealing to the public for any information that may shed light on the circumstances leading up to the incident.
