A tragic incident unfolded in the Allerton section of The Bronx on Saturday night as a 25-year-old man lost his life in a fatal shooting, prompting an investigation by the NYPD into what is now being treated as a homicide case.
According to officials, the distressing event occurred at 690 Allerton Avenue, within the jurisdiction of the 49th Precinct, where police were dispatched following a 911 call reporting a shooting at approximately 10:53 p.m. on May 11.
Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement officers found an unidentified male with a gunshot wound to the head. Despite swift medical attention from EMS personnel, the man succumbed to his injuries on-site, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, with investigations ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The victim has been identified as Daniel Lachapel, a resident of Allerton Avenue in The Bronx, as confirmed by law enforcement sources.
Witnesses reported a heavy police presence at the crime scene, with a portion of Allerton Avenue cordoned off for investigations. The victim was spotted by onlookers from nearby buildings lying on the street, covered by a white sheet.
