Accident – Death – Obituary News : A single tusker, which became separated from its herd, caused chaos and tragedy in Thavanampalle, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. The lone elephant went on a rampage, ultimately trampling a 50-year-old farmer, G Chinnaiah, to his unfortunate demise in the early hours of Sunday.

Local authorities reported that a group of nine tuskers had been roaming the reserve forests in the area over the past few days. However, one adult tusker strayed from the herd and began wreaking havoc by damaging mango orchards in Vemgampalli village, Thavanampalle mandal.

The situation took a deadly turn when the tusker attacked and fatally trampled the farmer. Following the tragic incident, police and forest department officials swiftly responded by retrieving the deceased’s body for postmortem examination. A case was subsequently registered in connection with the incident.

Efforts were made by forest officers to drive the rogue tusker back into the woods in an attempt to reunite it with its herd. As a gesture of support and condolence, the district administration provided the family of the deceased farmer with an ex gratia payment of 5 lakh rupees.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers and conflicts that can arise when wild animals, such as elephants, encroach on human settlements. It underscores the importance of wildlife conservation efforts and the need for effective measures to prevent such tragic encounters in the future..
