– Form 3 Student Nursing Injuries After KFS Officers Attack Him.
Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Form 3 student by the name of Mwangi, hailing from Maji Mazuri Day School in Eldama, is currently fighting for his life in a referral hospital after allegedly being subjected to a brutal assault by officers from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS). The distressing incident unfolded when Mwangi’s mother found herself at the receiving end of aggressive tactics by the KFS officers, who detained her under allegations of illegal entry into the forest.
The unfortunate chain of events began when the officers targeted Mwangi’s mother, subjecting her to harassment and unjust treatment. She was apprehended on the grounds of trespassing in the forest and was then demanded a bribe of KSh 2000, which she was unable to pay in full. In a state of despair, she reached out to her son, Mwangi, to bring the remaining sum, all while being constrained in handcuffs.
The situation took a dehumanizing turn when Mwangi’s mother requested permission to use the restroom, only to be callously denied by the officers. Instead, she was coerced into relieving herself in their presence, a humiliating demand that prompted Mwangi to question their intentions. In response to his inquiry, the KFS officers purportedly resorted to violence, attacking the teenager with crude weapons, resulting in severe injuries that have left him clinging to life.
Mwangi was promptly rushed to Eldama Ravine Hospital, still in handcuffs, before being referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for further medical attention. He has remained unable to communicate for three agonizing days, with his condition deemed critical.
The shocking incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice from the local community and beyond. The family of the victim is seeking answers and accountability for the egregious actions of the KFS officers that have left a young student fighting for his life. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding human rights and ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals, especially vulnerable members of society like students..
