The Lagos State Police Command has reported a heartbreaking incident where a five-year-old girl, identified as Bosede, was tragically crushed to death by a truck while crossing the Iganmu-Apapa Expressway with her mother. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the devastating incident on Sunday.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the report of the accident was received by the Iponri police Division on Saturday at approximately 11.30 a.m. The accident occurred at Iganmu under bridge, heading towards Apapa, and involved a truck driven by an unidentified driver.
It was reported that the young girl and her mother were crossing the Expressway when the truck collided with them, resulting in the tragic death of Bosede as she sustained fatal head injuries. The impact of the accident was so severe that she died on the spot.
Upon receiving the report, police traffic officers from the division promptly visited the scene and removed the lifeless body of the young girl. The body was then handed over to the family for burial arrangements.
As the investigation into the incident continues, the police are actively pursuing the identification and possible arrest of the driver who fled the scene after the tragic accident.
