Sujita Kashyap : “25-year-old woman doctor found dead in Guwahati”

A 25-year-old woman doctor, identified as Sujitha Kashyap, was tragically found dead in her rented accommodation in Guwahati on Saturday. Sujitha, who worked at Rahman Hospital and Rahman Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences as an Assistant Professor, was discovered hanging at her residence in Pithaguri area in Guwahati’s Lokhra. Police suspect that she died by suicide.

Originally hailing from Pathsala in Assam’s Bajali district, Sujitha’s sudden demise has shocked her colleagues and students. The district magistrate and Basistha police were called to the scene, and her body was taken to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for autopsy procedures.

The circumstances surrounding Sujitha’s death have sparked speculation, with her family suspecting a tragic outcome of a purported love affair. In a heartbreaking statement, Sujitha’s mother revealed, “She was a normal human being until she came into a relationship with a boy from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.”

Detailing the challenges her daughter faced, Sujitha’s mother shared, “After living in Andhra Pradesh for six years, she moved to Assam for work. Recently, she confided in me about her distress, mentioning that the boy she was involved with constantly brought up topics that upset her, affecting her focus at work.”

Expressing concerns about potential mental harassment or blackmail, Sujitha’s mother added, “We believe that the boy may have mentally harassed or blackmailed her, although the exact details remain unclear.”

Sujitha’s untimely death is particularly poignant as she had recently secured a job offer at Nemcare Hospitals after a successful interview. She was scheduled to start her new role on Monday, adding to the profound sense of loss felt by her colleagues and loved ones.
