Accident – Death – Obituary News : A breakthrough in the investigation of the 2017 shooting of journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru led to significant developments in the case of the 2013 murder of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar in Pune. The Special Investigation Team of the Karnataka Police played a crucial role in unraveling the mysteries surrounding these two high-profile cases.

Recently, a sessions court in Pune convicted two individuals, Sachin Andhure and Sharad Kalaskar, to life imprisonment for their involvement in the murder of Narendra Dabholkar. These individuals were identified as the shooters who gunned down Dabholkar while he was out for a morning walk in Pune in August 2013. However, three other conspirators were acquitted in the case.

The ballistic analysis reports for the murders in Karnataka in 2015 and 2017, along with the arrest of a man who plotted the murders and the discovery of a coded diary with information on shooters and trainers, were instrumental in cracking the Dabholkar murder case. The Karnataka SIT shared crucial information with the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad, leading to the arrest of the shooters in the Dabholkar case.

In the Gauri Lankesh murder case, 17 individuals linked to an organized right-wing crime syndicate are accused of targeting individuals considered opposed to Hindutva ideologies. One of the convicted individuals in the Dabholkar case, Sharad Kalaskar, is also implicated in the Gauri Lankesh case.

The Karnataka SIT’s investigation into the Gauri Lankesh murder revealed connections to the murders of Prof M M Kalburgi, Govind Pansare, and Narendra Dabholkar. The SIT’s findings indicated that a single group or gang was responsible for all four murders.

Further breakthroughs in the case came with the arrest of key leaders of the right-wing crime syndicate involved in the Gauri Lankesh murder. The SIT uncovered a network of individuals who were indoctrinated and trained in arms and explosives to promote insurgency and create fear in society.

The investigation also revealed a larger plot to train and arm right-wing extremists in the name of religion. The involvement of individuals linked to the Abhinav Bharat group in training Sanatan Sanstha members in bomb-making activities was uncovered during the probe.

The meticulous work of the Karnataka SIT, along with collaboration with other agencies, has shed light on the intricate web of right-wing extremism and its deadly consequences. The arrest and conviction of individuals involved in these heinous crimes serve as a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice in the face of ideological violence..
