Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities in New Iberia were met with a shocking turn of events on Friday morning when a routine response to a vehicle crash led to the discovery of explosives, firearms, and drugs. The incident unfolded near the Teche Motel on Fontelieu Drive, just off East Main Street, according to a report by KLFY News 10.

Captain Leland Laseter of the New Iberia Police Department informed KLFY that officers were called to the scene shortly before 7 a.m. after a vehicle crashed into a ditch. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Beau Broussard, was taken into custody following the discovery of multiple firearms and narcotics in his car.

As the investigation unfolded, police obtained search warrants for two rooms at the Teche Motel, where no additional contraband was found. The focus then shifted to two adjacent homes, one of which belonged to Broussard. It was at one of these residences that authorities stumbled upon suspected homemade explosive devices, leading to the immediate evacuation of the area.

Specialists from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, alongside Louisiana State Police, worked tirelessly throughout the night to safely remove the explosives. By 8 p.m., additional devices were discovered and neutralized, as noted by KLFY.

Broussard now faces multiple charges in connection to the drugs and weapons uncovered during the investigation. For more details on this ongoing story, visit KLFY News 10.
