In a disturbing turn of events, the investigation into the kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl in New Delhi has uncovered that the child was sexually assaulted by the accused kidnapper. The accused, identified as Arjun, also known as Md Umar, a resident of Andheria Mod in the Mehrauli area, has been apprehended by the authorities, a senior police officer revealed.
The incident came to light around 3 pm on May 6 when the father of the victim girl, a resident of Wazir Nagar, reported the kidnapping at Kotla Mubarakpur police station. He informed the officers that an unknown person had taken his daughter. Subsequently, a case was registered, and the police initiated an investigation by reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan stated that multiple CCTV cameras in locations such as Bapu Park, Uday Chand Marg, Kotla Mubarakpur, Gurudwara Road, South Ex-1, and Pilanji Village were scrutinised to trace the movements of the accused. It was determined that the accused had approached the area from South Ex-1 Bus Stop and had taken the victim in the same direction. With assistance from local sources, the accused Arjun was apprehended from his jhuggi in Andheri Mod, and the girl was safely rescued.
During the interrogation, the victim disclosed that the accused had sold her nose pin to purchase new clothes and food. She also revealed that the accused had changed her clothing and sexually assaulted her. Subsequently, the victim underwent a medical examination at AIIMS, which confirmed the sexual assault and identified slight abrasions on her upper body.
