10th May—A man from Dayton was apprehended early on Friday following a pursuit and collision in Darke County, Ohio.

An officer from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office attempted to pull over a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu at around 1:30 a.m. for a violation of lanes and the license plate obstruction that prevented the plate from being identified, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

“Prior to the officer’s attempt to signal a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated to around 90 mph,” the statement mentioned.

Upon activating emergency lights and sirens, the driver failed to halt the vehicle.

Another officer deployed tire deflation devices, which the Malibu driver collided with. The vehicle managed to reach state Route 121 before the driver lost control and crashed into a ditch.

After exiting the car and attempting to flee, the driver was apprehended following a brief pursuit on foot.

He has been identified as 30-year-old Quentin V. Howard from Dayton by the sheriff’s office. Howard was subsequently detained in the Darke County Jail on suspicion of drug possession, with further allegations pending, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

A 32-year-old male passenger from Dayton in the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Wayne Healthcare and later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital.
