DES MOINES, Wash. – A man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for the murder of 31-year-old Andrew Carter in a Des Moines shopping mall parking lot. Yourhighness Jeramiah Bolar, who was identified through a Washington’s Most Wanted tip, confessed to the crime and will now face a lengthy prison term for his actions.

Bolar admitted to shooting Carter multiple times in the Redondo Square parking lot on the night of October 28, 2018. He claimed that he was scared when Carter approached his vehicle, leading him to open fire. Following the shooting, Bolar disposed of the murder weapon in the ocean and arranged to have the car sold.

Des Moines Police were able to crack the case thanks to video surveillance footage and assistance from the public. A tip from a Washington’s Most Wanted viewer helped detectives locate Bolar’s vehicle and identify him as the prime suspect in Carter’s murder.

Bolar was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. After a lengthy legal process, he was convicted of the charges in January 2024 and handed a 23-year sentence. This sentence includes a firearms enhancement, which means that Bolar could face additional prison time for his involvement with a firearm.

Prior to the murder, Bolar had a criminal history that included a Newcastle jewelry store burglary in 2015. He pleaded guilty to various charges related to the burglary, where he acted as a lookout while his accomplices stole items and caused damage to the business. Another suspect involved in the burglary was identified as a juvenile.
