The victim, identified as Gayle Thompson, 58, was discovered beaten and stabbed in her Webster apartment. Her absence from work at Stewart Elementary in Hitchcock ISD raised concerns, prompting a welfare check by local authorities, who found a disturbing crime scene at her residence.
Neighbours recalled hearing unusual noises coming from the victim’s apartment the day before her body was discovered. One resident described it as a loud thud, resembling the sound of a heavy object being dropped.
Marcus Thompson was later traced to Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he reportedly threatened his father. Prior to this incident, Thompson served a two-year sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
