In a disturbing and tragic incident, a 32-year-old man shockingly murdered his minor fiancée in front of her parents in Karnataka’s Kodagu on Thursday night. The brutal act was reportedly carried out after the young girl decided to call off the marriage, leading to a horrifying outcome.
The victim, identified as 15-year-old US Meena, had recently achieved success in her SSLC examination by scoring 52%, a feat that brought pride and happiness to her village. Unfortunately, her promising future was abruptly cut short by the accused, Onkarappa also known as Papu, who resided in the same village.
The tragic incident unfolded in Surlabbi, situated under Madikeri Taluk in Karnataka’s Kodagu district. Allegedly, Onkarappa forcibly dragged Meena out of her home on the fateful night and brutally ended her life in a shocking manner, leaving her parents, Subramani and Muthakki, devastated by the loss of their beloved daughter.
Murder case filed against the accused
Following the horrific incident, a murder case was promptly registered at the Somwarpet police station, with authorities initiating a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure justice is served.
Reports have indicated that the victim’s family had arranged her engagement with the accused, Onkarappa. Despite efforts from the social welfare department to delay the marriage until Meena reached the legal age of 18, tragedy struck when Onkarappa returned to the residence after officials had left and carried out the ruthless act, disregarding all pleas and warnings.
