Accident – Death – Obituary News : A receipt from a pound shop, data from a mobile phone tower, and fragments of a shattered sideview mirror played crucial roles in helping authorities in Clovis, N.M. swiftly identify the perpetrator in a shooting incident that resulted in the deaths of two women and left a toddler severely injured at a local park. Additionally, these pieces of evidence also aided in the rescue of an abducted infant.

Following the tragic events at the city park, a criminal complaint was filed with an arrest warrant for 26-year-old Alek Isaiah Collins, outlining the meticulous investigation conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies to locate a missing 10-month-old baby girl after the police were called to the scene.

Collins now faces charges including two counts of murder, two counts of child abuse, and one count of kidnapping. He was apprehended at a residence in Abilene two days after the Clovis police officers discovered Samantha Cisneros, 23, and Taryn Allen, 23, both from Texico, N.M., with gunshot wounds near a silver Dodge minivan at Ned Houk Park. A young girl, who had sustained a head injury, was also found at the scene and subsequently taken to a hospital in Lubbock.

Investigators, upon finding baby items near the minivan, suspected that an infant had been present during the shooting. Through interviews with family members, it was confirmed that Cisneros was the mother of the missing child. This led to the issuance of an Amber Alert for the abducted infant.

The Amber Alert indicated that the infant’s abductor may have been driving a red- or maroon-colored Honda. A damaged stroller with a streak of red or maroon automotive paint was discovered among the baby items, further supporting this theory.

Moreover, five 9mm shell casings and remnants of a side-view mirror belonging to a Honda vehicle were found near the crime scene. A receipt from a Poundland store, suggesting that the group had visited the establishment two hours prior to the incident, was recovered from the Dodge minivan. Analysis of the women’s mobile phones revealed that they had been at the park around 3 p.m.

An eyewitness at Ned Houk Park reported hearing six to eight gunshots earlier in the day, while FBI agents, collaborating with local authorities, examined data from a cell phone tower in the vicinity. This investigation revealed that a phone number associated with Collins, originating from Houston, was present at the park at the time of the shooting. The same device was also traced to the Dollar Store area around the same time Cisneros’ phone was detected there.

Footage from a McDonald’s drive-thru near the park showed a maroon Honda sedan with a missing passenger side-view mirror cover. The owners of the vehicle informed investigators that Collins had rented their Honda through an app, equipped with a GPS tracker, with a scheduled return date of April 23.

The GPS data pinpointed the Honda’s location to a property in Abilene, prompting local law enforcement to monitor the area. Collins was spotted pushing the damaged Honda out of the garage, leading to his arrest. The abducted infant, unharmed, was recovered and taken to a hospital for evaluation.

A subsequent search of the scene yielded a 9mm pistol, although it remains unconfirmed whether this weapon was used in the shooting. During police questioning, Collins admitted to taking the child but denied any involvement in the shootings.

Authorities announced that there appears to be no connection between the deceased women and Collins. Further information revealed that Collins had contacted the FBI in October seeking assistance in locating his missing daughter, expressing frustration and making concerning statements.

The Ninth District Attorney’s Office intends to file a motion to extradite Collins to New Mexico to face his charges. He is due to appear in a U.S. magistrate court for an initial hearing and identity confirmation on Tuesday..
