Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities in Atlanta, Georgia, have made a breakthrough in a cold case that has haunted the community for over two decades. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the arrest of an Athens man in connection with the brutal murder of University of Georgia law student Tara Louise Baker, whose death had remained unsolved since 2001.

Tara Louise Baker, a promising young student, was tragically found dead inside her apartment in Athens, with the fire being confirmed as arson. The GBI and local law enforcement agencies launched a thorough investigation into the case, but it remained unresolved for 23 years.

GBI Director Chris Hosey expressed his sentiments on the arrest, stating, “Tara’s life was stolen from her in a horrific act of violence. While this arrest does not bring her back to us, I pray that it helps bring closure to the Baker family as they continue their healing journey.”

The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Edrick Lamont Faust, has been charged with multiple offenses including murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another, arson, possession of a knife during a felony, tampering with evidence, and aggravated sodomy related to Baker’s tragic death.

Tara Louise Baker, born in 1988, was a graduate of Lovejoy High School and pursued further education at Georgia College in Milledgeville before embarking on her law school journey at the esteemed University of Georgia.
