COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The human remains discovered near Woodruff Farm Road in November 2021 have been positively identified as belonging to 60-year-old John Craft, who had been missing since June 2020.

John Craft’s disappearance sparked a widespread search effort in the Columbus area when he was last seen near River Road in June 2020. Despite continued efforts and appeals for information, Craft remained missing for over two years until his remains were found.

Authorities collected DNA samples from Craft’s brother on June 10, 2021, in an attempt to identify the remains that were discovered. After months of analysis, the Columbus Police Department confirmed the match between the DNA samples and the recovered remains on Thursday, May 9.
