Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A tragic incident in Philadelphia has left the community mourning the loss of a beloved teacher from Olney High School. Ondria Glaze, who also served as a special education compliance monitor, was identified as the victim in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide.

Principal Michael Roth confirmed Glaze’s death in a heartfelt letter to students, parents, and staff, describing her as a shining example of the school’s motto, “Olney Love.” Roth expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Glaze’s positive impact on everyone she encountered.

According to Roth, Glaze was not only a dedicated educator but also a personal friend to many at the school. He called upon the school community to come together during this difficult time to support one another, echoing the compassion and kindness that Glaze always showed.

Glaze had been a teacher at Olney High School for a decade before her untimely death. She was discovered fatally shot in a residence in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia, along with 42-year-old Richard Harper, who was found dead from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While authorities continue to investigate the tragic events, it is believed that Harper shot Glaze before taking his own life. The senseless violence has left the school community reeling, struggling to come to terms with the loss of such a beloved and respected teacher.

In honour of Glaze’s memory, Olney High School has launched a GoFundMe campaign to establish the “Ondria Glaze Olney Love Scholarship.” The scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior who embodies the same light and love that Glaze brought to the school community.
