OIL CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Authorities in Venango County are still on the hunt for a suspect involved in a shooting incident that took place on Shamburg Road in Oil Creek Township on May 1.

The Franklin-based State Police have been actively investigating the case since the evening of Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Anthony Martinez Young from Pleasantville.

Reports indicate that troopers were dispatched to the scene at around 6:41 p.m. following multiple reports of gunfire in the area.

According to a witness, an altercation occurred between a neighbor and the driver of a gold-coloured four-door car. The driver, later identified as Young, allegedly stepped out of his 2007 Ford Fusion, bearing Pennsylvania registration MJG4251, and approached the victim, Jerimiah Christopher Chavis, firing three shots.

Chavis, a 30-year-old resident of Pleasantville, managed to survive the attack. However, his current condition remains undisclosed.

After the shooting, Young reportedly fled the scene in his vehicle, driving towards State Route 227.

The Pennsylvania State Police have brought multiple charges against Young, including Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Criminal Mischief. An arrest warrant has been issued for his apprehension.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident or Young’s whereabouts. Individuals are advised to contact the Franklin station at 814-676-6596 and ask for Trooper Adam Haun. It is strongly advised not to approach the suspect as he is considered armed and dangerous.
