In a tragic incident in Ledyard, a woman has been charged with manslaughter after causing a rollover crash while fleeing from police earlier this year. Amber Lahue, 23, of New London, turned herself in to authorities and is facing charges of second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, reckless driving, and improper passing.
The charges stem from a collision that occurred on Route 12 in February. Reports indicate that one of the vehicles involved in the crash had evaded a traffic stop earlier that night, leading to the subsequent tragic events.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered that all three individuals involved in the crash had been taken to Backus Hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, one of the passengers, identified as 27-year-old Aaron Baldwin Jr., succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Following her arrest, Lahue posted a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 21. The community is reeling from the loss of Aaron Baldwin Jr. and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
