Accident – Death – Obituary News : THANE: A cable operator hailing from Thane district in Maharashtra, known as Irfan Shaijad Khan or Irfan Bala, has been handed a five-year prison sentence by a local court. The 39-year-old was convicted of inflicting severe injuries on a man in an incident that took place seven years ago.
The Additional Sessions Judge (Bhiwandi) P M Gupta also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the offender, as per the order dated May 4, which was made public on Wednesday.
Additional Public Prosecutor Vijay Mundhe stated that Irfan attacked Yusuf Khan with a knife in April 2017, resulting in grave injuries. Following the assault, Irfan was charged with attempted murder.
The court concluded that the prosecution had successfully proven all charges against Irfan. In his ruling, the judge remarked, “Thus, while imposing the sentence, I have taken into account the seriousness of the offence, the circumstances under which it was committed, the age, character and criminal history of the accused.”
Mundhe further highlighted that this marks the first conviction by the Bhiwandi sessions court since it commenced operations a few months ago.
