Authorities have identified the woman who tragically fell to her death during a graduation ceremony at Ohio State University in Columbus over the weekend. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office announced on Tuesday that Larissa Brady, a 53-year-old resident of Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene just outside Ohio Stadium on Sunday.
An ongoing investigation is seeking to determine the circumstances surrounding Brady’s fall from the 136-foot-tall stadium to the pavement below. Despite the tragic nature of the incident, Ohio State police do not suspect foul play and believe that the fall was not accidental, according to university spokesperson Ben Johnson.
The incident occurred around midday near the stadium’s Bell Tower as the final graduates were making their way into the venue. It was noted in the commencement program that Brady’s daughter was among those graduating on that day.
Despite the harrowing event, the commencement ceremony continued without any mention of the incident. However, some attendees, including students, were visibly upset following the fall. The university has taken steps to offer counseling services to all graduates and staff who volunteered at the graduation ceremony.
