Accident – Death – Obituary News : The tragic deaths of two individuals in Ashtabula County, Ohio, have been confirmed as accidental following separate fire incidents. Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office Chief Investigator Amber Stewart revealed that a third fire-related death in March is still under investigation.

The first victim, Albert Stanonik, aged 75, lost his life in a house fire at 4485 Middle Road in Monroe Township on January 16. The cause of death was determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning, with the fire being classified as accidental. Monroe Fire Chief Jason Coy stated that firefighters received a call to the seemingly abandoned structure just before 4:30 a.m. Stanonik was tragically found in the burnt-out home.

In a separate incident on January 21, a fatal fire occurred in a car on Lake Road, just east of County Line Road. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Chris Thane reported that troopers discovered a vehicle engulfed in flames, with a body found inside after the fire was extinguished. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Camdyn Probst, and the cause of death was determined to be fire-related, ruled as accidental.

The most recent fire-related fatality occurred on March 26 at West Street in Geneva, where Peter Semper lost his life. Stewart mentioned that the investigation into Semper’s death is ongoing pending final autopsy results. The fire at 161 West Street started around 11:26 on March 26 in a small home set back from the road, according to Geneva Assistant Fire Chief Tim Parks. Firefighters from Geneva, Madison, Geneva-on-the-Lake, Harpersfield, and Saybrook were able to control the fire within 45 minutes, but unfortunately, Semper was found deceased in the building.

These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by fires and the importance of fire safety measures in homes and vehicles. The community mourns the loss of these individuals and extends its deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones during this difficult time..
