A tragic incident unfolded at Ohio State University during a graduation ceremony, where a woman fell from the stands to her death. The Franklin County coroner’s office has identified the deceased as a 53-year-old woman whose daughter was among the graduates receiving their diplomas.

According to reports from the Columbus Dispatch, the coroner’s documents suggest that the woman’s death is being investigated as an apparent suicide. The incident occurred just outside Ohio Stadium in Columbus, where the woman was pronounced dead on Sunday.

The University spokesperson, Ben Johnson, stated that Ohio State police do not suspect foul play and believe that the fall was not accidental. The investigation into how the woman fell from the 136-foot-high stadium to the sidewalk below is ongoing.

The tragic event took place around noon near the stadium’s bell tower as the last graduates were entering the venue. Shock and sorrow filled the air as the commencement continued without addressing the incident. The woman’s daughter was also among the graduates, adding to the emotional turmoil of the day.
