The incident took place in the 400 block of N. Beadle Drive at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, when officers received a call regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Immediate medical attention was provided by first responders before the victim was taken by ambulance for further treatment.
As of now, the victim remains in critical condition, with authorities closely monitoring their progress. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Evetta Hughes from Carbondale, was also found at the scene. It was revealed that the victim and Hughes are married.
